The city of Winnipeg has a population of approximately 650,000 people. It is the capital city for the province of Manitoba and is situated at the longitudinal centre of Canada, i.e. right in the middle of the country (from East to West). The TransCanada Highway (Hwy #1 in Manitoba) runs through Winnipeg East and West.
Also, Winnipeg is about 100 kilometres north of the border between Canada and the American states of North Dakota and Minnesota, on Hwy #75 or Hwy #59 respectively.
